Privacy Policy

OK Bet Me is a place to make friendly bets with people you already know. We collect what the app needs to do that and nothing else. There are no advertising trackers, no analytics SDKs, and we do not sell your information to anyone.
What we collect
- Your phone number. It is how you sign in and how the app identifies you to the people you bet with. We verify it by sending you a one-time code.
- Your name, and a handle if you set one. Shown to the people you are connected to.
- Your Venmo username, if you choose to add one. Optional. It is shown to people you bet with so you can settle up between yourselves. You can remove it at any time.
- What you create in the app. Bets, parlays, picks, reactions and comments, along with who they involve.
- A notification token for your device, if you allow notifications, so we can send them.
- Basic service records. When you sign in and when you last opened the app, so we can operate the service and see how much it is being used.
- Waitlist requests. If you asked for access, the phone number and name you submitted, until the request is approved or declined.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your location, we do not read or upload your contacts, we do not use advertising identifiers, and we do not embed third-party analytics or advertising software.
Money
OK Bet Me does not process payments and never holds your money. A wager is a line of text between you and someone you know — "$10", "a taco dinner" — and settling up happens between the two of you, outside the app. A Venmo username, if you add one, is displayed so you can do that; we do not connect to Venmo or move funds.
Who else sees it
- People you bet with. Your name, handle, Venmo username if set, and the bets you share with them.
- Twilio receives your phone number in order to send your verification code.
- Apple and Google receive your device's notification token, through Expo, in order to deliver notifications.
- Amazon Web Services hosts the service and stores its data.
That is the whole list. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Deleting your account
Open Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app. Your name, handle and Venmo username are erased, your notification tokens and saved settings are deleted, every signed-in device is signed out, and you will not be able to sign in again.
Bets you already made stay on the other player's record, without your name attached. Their history is theirs as much as it is yours, and we are not willing to delete it out from under them to close your account.
Keeping it safe
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit, the database is reached over an encrypted connection with short-lived credentials, and your session token is held in your device's secure storage. No system is perfect, but we do not store passwords, because there are none to store.
Children
OK Bet Me is not intended for anyone under 17, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be surfaced in the app.
